Southwest Women’s Oncology is rapidly expanding and looking for a dedicated and driven Surgery Scheduler to join their high-performance team. Position Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and schedule surgeries for patients, ensuring accurate and timely communication of details.
- Confirm patient readiness by coordinating pre-surgical tests, imaging, and clearances.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and medical staff to ensure proper flow of patient information.
- Secure necessary prior authorizations and insurance verifications for procedures.
- Serve as the main point of contact for patients, ensuring they are informed about their surgery, including preoperative instructions, dates, and any special requirements.
- Maintain accurate patient records and update surgery schedules in the system.
- Adjust schedules and communicate any changes or cancellations promptly to the relevant parties.
- Collaborate with administrative staff to ensure appropriate resources (staff, rooms, equipment) are available on surgery days.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance processes, and surgical procedures.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and scheduling software.
- Compassionate, patient-centered attitude with strong customer service skills.
