Sharp is currently in need of a Service Writer to help keep the office of our mechanic shop organized and operating efficiently.
Service Writer summary of duties -
Office work performed in an energetic, fast-paced truck repair shop. Perform clerical work, parts management, and customer service.
Detailed description of duties -
Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work done to fleet and customer equipment. Organize physical and electronic records and be able to provide them upon request to management, dispatchers, etc.
Manage parts inventory, including routine and special parts ordering, stocking, and cleaning/organization of parts room. Ensure that all parts used in day-to-day work are recorded and billed on work orders. Assist the fleet manager with warranty parts management. Process invoices and paperwork.
Assist with answering and directing phone calls. Create customer invoices and process credit card, check, and cash payments. Keep track of work that mechanics are doing and keep dispatchers updated throughout the day through email, phone calls, and Google Calendars.
Assist shop manager and fleet manager in their roles as necessary. Work in tandem alongside mechanics, dispatchers, and management. Provide service to customers and company drivers.
The person filling this role often creates their own workload for the day, and must work productively with minimal supervision. They will constantly be interacting with others, and must be friendly and capable of conflict resolution even in tense situations. They will assist other departments and must be willing to occasionally help with tasks that fall outside the scope of their regular duties.
Finally, the person filling this role must be capable of problem-solving. They will be the primary user of the shop maintenance software system and will therefore know certain aspects of it better than anyone in the company. This means that when there are technical problems and glitches, they must often solve the issue without the assistance of others, or with occasional (but minimal) assistance from an IT representative.
