Clinical Nurse Educator
Requirements:
- BSN required
- Preferred master’s degree or in process for a nursing professional development certification and/or psychiatric mental health certification.
- 5 years as an RN with minimum of 3 years in psychiatric nursing
- Current CT RN license
- BLS certified, willing to become ACLS certified
- Certification as an instructor of BLS preferred- willing to obtain within one year of hire
Jobs Duties:
- Supporting the creation of a positive practice environment for nursing staff
- Supporting the nursing team as a cheerleader and resource
- Clinical practice exemplar
- Improving patient outcomes
- Monitoring patient flow
- Reviewing nursing processes and insuring safe, evidence-based practice throughout the continuum of delivery of nursing care
- Evaluate and improve interprofessional communication
- Developing shared decision-making skills among nursing staff
- Supporting safety and quality initiatives
- Participating in research projects as determined
- Ensure and lead safety huddles and post incident debriefing and documentation
- Ensure that policy and procedures are being followed throughout the course of patient stay
- Present classes for orientation, initial and review classes for Preventing and Managing Psychiatric Emergencies and crisis situations per curriculum, and initial and recertification classes for CPR
- On site and planned education on process, policy and procedure for the nursing staff and as needed/directed by nursing administration
- Communicating and collaborating with Director of Nursing Education, Director of Nursing Care, and others as needed regarding concerns and educational needs of the staff
