Position Summary:
The Operations Analyst will support decision making and scheduling related to inventory management, and production priorities. This is a new position intended to help measure performance, reduce costs and increase efficiencies in manufacturing and warehousing by creating meaningful, accurate and timely reporting for managers. Analyses include but are not limited to things such as: department and individual performance relative to company goals; prioritization of work assignments; insights that provide visibility into how the business is running; and identification of areas for improvement.
The Operations Analyst will summarize data and create dashboards, reports, and visualizations that help improve business operations in Maryland and Vermont. The position will report to the Director of Operations. The Operations Analyst will create documentation and provide managers and senior leaders support so they can find and utilize reports. As a secondary responsibility, the Operations Analyst will support end user technology needs in Oakland, including but not limited to liaising with IT professionals within Simon Pearce to troubleshoot onsite hardware or software issues.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide insights into business operations and effectiveness of the operations using data analysis

Generate reports and analyses to help managers find and use them

Work with end users to understand business requirements to guide report development

Ensure proper testing/validation
-
Distribute generated reports in a timely manner

Help train end-users in ad-hoc report creation
-
Document and maintain records of created reports and changes to existing reports
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

Work with IT professionals troubleshooting issues with the use of the ERP and warehouse systems

Qualifications
Qualifications Required:
-
Bachelors in Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics or an equivalent combination of education and data analysis or business systems experience required.

Proficiency in or strong aptitude for working with data and conducting analyses.

Intermediate level of knowledge of relational databases, database structures and design, systems design, data management, data warehouse

Proficiency in Excel or a similar platform, including queries and formulas.

Familiarity with ERP systems such as NetSuite is preferred but not necessary

Strong analytic, quantitative, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

This is an entry level technical position, with room to grow. The most important criterion for success is the ability to understand and query databases. Long-term success in this position depends on the ability to learn to understand problems from a business perspective in order to proactively map and implement pragmatic technical solutions involving detailed and accurate database queries.
