The Opportunity:
The Collections Manager will oversee and streamline our accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely collections from clients while maintaining positive client relationships. This role requires a detail-oriented, proactive professional who can balance assertiveness with diplomacy in managing outstanding invoices for a professional services firm.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the collections process for accounts receivable, including monitoring aged receivables and implementing effective strategies to ensure timely payments.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to address and resolve payment issues while upholding the firm’s commitment to exceptional client service.
- Collaborate with project managers, project coordinators and accounting team to resolve payment issues.
- Create and manage reports on collection metrics, accounts receivable aging, and cash flow forecasts for senior leadership.
- Implement and refine collection policies and procedures to improve efficiency and reduce outstanding accounts receivable.
- Coordinate with legal teams as necessary for escalated collection efforts.
- Stay up to date on industry best practices and applicable regulations related to collections and accounts receivable.
- Assist Accounting Team with preparation of Lien Waivers, Sworn Statements and other documentation required for clients to pay invoices.
- Assist Accounting Team with processing of cash receipts and other miscellaneous accounting tasks.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in collections, preferably within the professional services or consulting industry.
- Demonstrated success in reducing outstanding receivables and improving cash flow.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to navigate sensitive financial discussions professionally.
- Proficiency in accounting software and tools (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, Deltek Vantage Point).
- High level of attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights for continuous improvement.
