The San Diego Convention Center is located on sparkling San Diego Bay in the heart of a vibrant downtown. Abundant, flexible space and five-star service make the San Diego Convention Center the meeting planner's choice for hosting major conventions, trade shows, meetings and special events. The San Diego Convention Center has 2.6 million sq. ft. to include 72 meeting/banquet rooms, eight exhibit halls, two ballrooms and a special events area - the Sails Pavilion, 138-seat capacity onsite restaurant and 36-seat bar, 8 concession stands in exhibit halls, 2 full-service kitchens, portable specialty services and 3 Starbucks lobby operations. Some of the many types of events offered at the San Diego Convention Center include the annual Comic Con and ESRI shows, full service plated dinners and buffet & reception events.

We are currently seeking a Hospitality Supervisor Catering/Banquets at the San Diego Convention Center.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise stand crew and ensure that all company policies and procedures are followed
  • Schedule appropriate number of employees each day.
  • Report personnel problems
  • Report all workplace accidents/injuries to your supervisor, Scheduling or to Human Resources immediately
  • Ensure your stand is completely set up prior to opening time of events
  • Ensure all Concession Stands are set up and maintained to meet Centerplate's standards
  • Ensure all are clean and in proper working order
  • Maintain weekly, inventories, maintain pars, and control waste
  • Responsible for accuracy and completion of opening and closing inventories, deliveries, transfers, requisitions and spoilage. Note; any discrepancies should be reported immediately
  • Responsible for all cash, inventories and company assets (equipment, keys, small wares, tools and supplies) in your department
  • Ensure menu board spelling and prices are correct and neat
  • Responsible to train staff in proper Customer Service Philosophy and technique
  • Ensure prompt and friendly service
  • Pay attention to food quality
  • Employees to be in proper uniform and proper appearance. Refer to employee handbook
  • Uniforms must be returned to the wardrobe department at the end of every shift

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-4 years experience as Hospitality Supervisor or Manager in a mid to large volume operation.

Other requirements:

  • Requires lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Must be able to work in extremes of cold and heat. Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to work in extremes of cold to heat.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced mobility to maneuver quickly among different areas of the facility.
