Base Pay Range:

$97,500 - $120,000

As an Actuarial Analyst, your essential job functions will include the following:

  • Risk management and reporting
    • Manage the preparation, review, and analysis of monthly risk reports, including dealer-level reports
    • Propose necessary steps to keep company and program profitability at acceptable levels
    • Assist with pricing of new and existing programs
    • Create earnings patterns for new programs
    • Update earnings patterns for existing programs
    • Prepare the following monthly reports:
      • Line of business
      • Risk cubes
      • Triangles
      • Sales reports
      • Claims reports
      • Claims standards/KPI’s
      • Profit share statements
      • Ceding statements
    • Analyze the financial risk and uncertainty of products, services and programs.
    • Strong understanding of the statistical and mathematical principles of risk assessment and management.
    • Implement strategies to minimize and manage risk.
  • Consult with clients on:
    • Program and product structure and review
    • Pricing and risk review
  • Manage the preparation of forecasts and analysis related to:
    • Sales
    • Claims
    • New strategies and opportunities
    • IT spend
    • Market share, competitor and industry analysis
    • Support sales, operations, accounting, executives with ad hoc requests
  • Work with department managers and IT to define business requirements where technology can improve risk management process and support advancement in operations and analytics. Initiate projects that have a positive impact on the business.
  • Recommend process improvements, provide innovation suggestions and solutions, identify and understand issues, problems and opportunities. Compare data from different sources to draw conclusions. Take action that is consistent with available facts, constraints and probable consequences.
  • Maintain and improve upon existing risk management training and procedure manuals, develop new training and procedure manuals.
  • Help maintain data integrity by running reports and analyzing data. Based on findings, work with team to provide appropriate solutions and process improvements to improve data quality.
  • Create and deliver risk management metrics and analytics, including dashboards and performance metrics that impact overall decision making.
  • Coordinate and assist in auditing internal/external systems to ensure data integrity. Assist in SOX audits by providing and reviewing data, controls, reports and other SOX compliance items.
  • Other financial support and analysis as necessary
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Position Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in an actuarial role and at least 3 CAS exams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial, business, data analytics or related field and/or related equivalent work
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills: Creating/editing formulas, pivot tables, graphs, reports, etc.
  • Knowledge or understanding of: Microsoft Power BI, VBA, SQL
  • Ability to manage large sets of data.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, oral/written communication and presentation skills with ability to communicate technical information in non-technical terms to internal and external customers.
  • Good organizational skills, with a history of successfully completing tasks on time.
  • Must possess a sense of urgency in solving issues with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Experience with workflow, planning and organizational skills.
  • Able to adapt to ongoing and fast change, takes initiative, and works independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail, problem-solving, critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Comfortable with team-based work structure; ability to demonstrate flexibility on the job.

Physical Job Requirements
