Brief Overview
High Plains Processing is seeking an experienced Crush Superintendent for the soon-to-be switch plant in Mitchell, South Dakota. High Plains is affiliated with South Dakota Soybean Processors and their strategic partners. Under the direction and supervision of the Crush Manager, the Crush Superintendent will provide supervision assistance, training, coaching, task assignment, process continuous improvement, and motivation through team leadership principles. Primary Responsibilities
1. Safety
- Keep safety at the forefront. Demonstrate and lead safety culture through compliance, training, hazard identification, reporting, emergency response, and active participation in safety initiatives.
- Work with the safety department and SQF management to implement and monitor employee safety, product safety, plant sanitation, and environmental compliance.
- Maintain standards above minimum compliance with all governing laws and regulations.
2. People
- Provide leadership that promotes high performing teamwork, personal accountability, cooperation, and career development.
- Lead, coach, and mentor all crush plant leads and operators to achieve KPI’s on safety, productivity, efficiency, and budgetary expectations.
- Communicate, drive, and promote leadership team objectives and goals.
3. Production
- Facilitate efficient and safe operations in the crush plant including daily production, operational efficiencies, quality control, and project execution.
- Effectively communicate process opportunities including both deficiencies and efficiencies.
- Point of contact to assist in resolution of operational, technical, or mechanical issues.
4. Communicate and Collaborate
- Work closely with leadership teams to recruit, onboard and train new team members to build high functioning teams ready to learn, adapt and respond to new challenges.
- Participate in performance standard development and encourage participation in training and development programs.
- Develop collaborative relationships with all internal departments and supporting teams, including refinery, maintenance, commercial and transportation departments, and finance.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of service as a Lead Process Technician
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills including experience with Microsoft office suite.
- Must be able to perform operating tasks dealing with the Crush Plant including startup, normal operations, shutdown, and emergency operations.
- Maintain a safe, positive work attitude and demonstrate willingness to be a team member.
- Perform duties outside normal responsibilities as needed to support the team and overall organizational goals.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work well with others.
- Effective and professional communication through speaking, writing, and listening.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical thinking skills with ability to prioritize, adapt and act.
