Education and Experience:
· Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology
· Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registry
· Current and valid State of Mississippi Radiologic Technologist license
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:
· Must have full knowledge of radiological procedures and procedure requirements; can explain the procedure and complications to the patient before the procedure.
· Competent in performing exams utilizing the ultrasound machine, x-ray machine, portable x-ray machine, Ct scanner, etc.
· Minimizes radiation to patients and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques.
· Maintains a safe work environment.
· Instructs and prepares patients for ultrasound, radiological, and/or fluoroscopic examinations.
· Responsible for assuring patients receive optimum care, comfort, privacy, and courtesy when receiving radiographic exams.
· Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure; makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
· Determines the most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly.
· Evaluates images and ensures that only quality images are submitted to the Radiologist.
· Performs procedures in a timely manner.
· Follows instruction of both the Director of Radiology and the Radiologist.
· Responsible for notifying the ordering physician if the exam is ordered incorrectly.
· Make sure an acceptable diagnosis is given for the imaging procedure ordered.
· Assists in the training of students and ancillary staff.
· Maintains a well-stocked room for every modality.
· Must have the ability and willingness to work with other staff.
· Completes all work before clocking out and leaving.
· Complies with state and federal professional requirements.
