What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tasting Room Wine Service Bartender position at Sparkman Cellars?
Sparkman Cellars is a family-owned winery founded in 2004 and located in the Old Redhook Brewery building in Woodinville. We have received numerous national accolades including Wine & Spirits's Top 100 Winery in the World and Wine Spectator's#21 and #29 Wine in the World.
We’re looking for a detail-oriented team member as a Tasting Room Wine Service Bartender. Prior experience at a winery/tasting room, restaurant, coffee shop or other hospitality related business is an asset, but is not required.
The primary duty for this position is to prepare wine flights, as well as glass pours and bottle sales, for tasting room server staff to pick up and deliver to our guests. This can be a fast paced setting when busy and those with great attention to detail, who work well independently and have strong multitasking skills will excel in this role. Because all of our guests are seated at tables away from the bar, your primary interaction will be with the front-of-the-house staff.
This role is somewhat similar to a barista in charge of preparing drinks and managing their station and does not require taking orders directly from guests. We do not sell liquor and this is not a bartender position that would involve mixing drinks, etc.
Although not required, schedule flexibility is helpful. Additional details are listed below.
- This position is for Saturday and Sunday with the potential for occasional additional shifts, if agreeable to the staff member
- Each work day is typically 7-8 hours and shifts are typically 10:30-6:00
- $16.28 per hour plus tips (which are averaging $7-10 per hour, for a total of $23-$26 per hour), incentives and wine discounts
- Opportunity for growth and education within a fun, family atmosphere
- Principal duties of a Tasting Room Service Bartender are to prepare wine flights, glass pours and bottle sales for our servers to deliver to our guests
Additional duties are, but not limited to, the following
- General tasting room opening, closing and side-work duties
- General tasting room maintenance and upkeep
- Restocking
- Polishing stemware
- Assisting with delivery of wines to guests
- Assist the Tasting Room Manager and Sparkman team as needed
Must be in good physical condition, able to stand for long periods of time and able to lift 50 lbs. (frequent heavy lifting is required). Also, must be 21 years old and have a valid Class 12 pourers license.
Whenever possible, we strive to promote from within and, as such, there is opportunity for growth within our company. Please include a separate cover letter with your resumé.
