Payroll Clerk

Job Summary:
The Payroll Clerk is responsible for processing weekly payroll and maintaining accurate employee time records.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Enter, maintain, and process employee information in the payroll system, including hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses, time worked, paid leave, deductions, and address changes.
• Ensure accurate processing of payroll deductions, including taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other withholdings.
• Reconcile payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements.
• Issue or reissue checks, direct deposits, or corrections due to errors or final discharges.
• Record and process federal and state payroll tax deposits.
• Handle workers’ compensation claims and accident reporting.
• Complete annual OSHA reporting and respond to payroll surveys.
• Prepare certified payroll reports and track Davis-Bacon wage scale projects.
• Maintain schedules for employee evaluations.
• Perform HR-related tasks as assigned.
• Carry out other duties as required.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Ability to quickly learn and navigate payroll software.
• Strong 10-key and typing skills.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Six years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, with at least 18 months of payroll experience preferred.
• Experience with Davis-Bacon wage scale projects and certified payroll reporting is preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
