Position Description : SUMMARY OF POSITION :
The Lead Teacher at Starrett Early Learning Center is responsible for creating a positive learning environment for children in UPK 3 and UPK 4 classes. The role requires a minimum of 2 years of full-time experience in early childhood education and knowledge of Department of Education and Department of Mental Health and Hygiene regulations. The Lead Teacher must meet the Department of Educations teacher qualification requirements and demonstrate strong leadership, effective classroom management, and the ability to develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the individual developmental needs of students.
Essential Functions :
Collaborates with the team and maintains effective classroom management.
Completes mandatory child abuse training and a minimum of 15 hours of yearly professional development.
Learn, manage and implement Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold.
Ensures student and parent confidentiality is maintained as per programs policy.
Ensures compliance with health and safety regulations, and maintains a clean and safe classroom.
Develops and implements lesson plans, assessing student progress and providing regular reports.
Differentiate instructional strategies to reflect diverse classroom learners
Understands and supports the varying developmental levels of students
Meets with parents to discuss student progress at least three times annually.
Manages student safety, supervision, classroom organization, and cleanliness.
Requirements & Competencies :
Ability to identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions.
Strong teamwork, communication, time management, and classroom management skills.
Proficient in computer applications (Word, Excel, Microsoft).
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit discretion in sensitive matters.
Flexibility
Education / Work Requirements :
A valid NYS teaching license or certification in Early Childhood Education (Birth-Grade 2), Pre-K-6, or Students with Disabilities (Birth-Grade 2).
A Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
Language Skills :
Ability to read, interpret, and communicate effectively through written and verbal reports.
Reasoning Ability :
Capable of solving practical problems and adapting to changing situations with discretion and confidentiality.
