What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Manager position at Springfield Marine Company?
The Director of Finance is responsible for the accounting and finance functions of all of the company’s operations, including monthly financial accounting / reporting, financial analysis, cost accounting, payroll and taxes. The selected candidate will have responsibility for development of the company’s high-level financial strategy and will also play a key role in the company’s strategic planning.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
· Oversee all financial accounting and reporting for all company operations, including: Payroll, A/R, A/P, G/L, Fixed Assets, Bank/Cash Management and Taxes
· Work with 3rd party CPA firms
· Analysis and reporting of financial results and trends
· Develop, implement, and maintain appropriate internal controls and processes to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting
· Develop, implement and maintain a cost accounting system
· Serve as a key advisor to the president and board on strategic initiatives and M&A activities
· As a senior manager of the business, work with other departments / business leaders to ensure the business is operating at peak efficiency and profitability
JOB REQUIREMENTS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Proven leadership and management skills
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
· Master’s degree in accounting
· CPA certification
· 10 years’ accounting experience
