Overview
The Accounting Manager is responsible for the accounting and financial operations of the company; to include maintaining accurate records and control reports, the production of periodic financial reports (including but not limited to the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Cash Flows, and other related reporting as requested), maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhancing the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Responsibilities
· Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
· Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
· Prepare and record daily, monthly, quarterly, annual, and reoccurring journal entries to document financial transactions while maintain supporting documents
· Manage cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
· Develop and maintain financial dashboards for company leaders.
· Coordinate with sales and operations to ensure accurate job costing and financial reporting.
· Reconcile bank accounts and provide daily cash reconciliations
· Maintain the tracking, allocation, amortization, depreciation, and reconciliation of fixed assets, loan fees, and principal/interest as it relates to debt
· Ensures payroll transactions and other overhead items are appropriately reported and allocated
· Handle tax preparation and liaise with external auditors.
· Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
· Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
· Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to senior management.
· Manage relationships with banks, insurance providers, and other financial institutions.
Qualifications
· Problem solving and initiative;
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting;
· 3-5 years professional public or private accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry;
· Proficiency in Quickbooks and Excel;
· Understanding of GAAP;
· Tax experience preferred but not required;
· Significant previous experience providing financial reporting, analysis, and advice to senior management;
· Resourceful with technology and able to manage different accounting systems and packages;
· Good work ethic coupled with a willingness to work effectively both independently and on a team;
· Strong organizational and time management skills;
· Understanding of growth stage company;
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
