The St. Johnsbury School District (STJSD) serves more than 1,000 students, Pre-K through 8th grade and tuition our high school students to several area public and independent high schools. We are looking for a PreK-3 Lower School Music Teacher.
Job Summary:
The Saint Johnsbury School seeks a General Music Teacher with the ability to inspire excellence amount elementary school students. The position includes a focus in general music in grades PreK-3. The Saint Johnsbury School has a strong music program with a tradition of excellence in choral music, instrumental music, and musical performance. We seek a candidate who can work collaboratively to continue this tradition of excellence in the music department while inspiring a love of music for our students.
General Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will excel at performing the following duties, among others not listed:
- Supervise students in a variety of school
- Teach content and skills using the curriculum designated by St. Johnsbury
- Display an ability and willingness to integrate music and music appreciation into all aspects of the core subject Modify instructional plans and materials to meet individual student needs based on the analysis of data.
- Evaluate and assess student progress against instructional
- Maintain accurate, efficient, and effective records for instructional and non- instructional purposes.
- Participate in staff meetings, join a staff committee, and support student activities (i.e. after school clubs, theater, etc.)
- Demonstrate knowledge of educational research, trends, and best
- Be a reflective

Qualifications:
- The position requires a bachelor’s degree in music education.
- Holds or able to hold a Vermont Professional Educator License with appropriate endorsement(s) (1-00, 3-00, 7-00), endorsement in Music Education preferred (12).
- Display strong communication skills (written and oral).
- Be enthusiastic and energetic and have full command of the appreciation for all the arts.
Compensation and Benefits
The position is for the academic year starting in August 2024. A salary commensurate with experience, degree attainment, and qualifications is paid to employees annually. Full time employees are eligible for our benefit package, including medical, dental, vision, long term disability, tuition reimbursement, professional development/education funds, Vermont State Teachers Retirement System and the ability to participate in the school’s 403(b) program.
