Qualifications
Two years of study at an institution of higher education [defined as completion of 48 semester hours (or equivalent trimester hours) of college coursework or an applicable number of semester hours as defined by the institution of higher education attended, whichever is less]; or "h An associate's degree or higher; or "h Meet a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment - o knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing and mathematics; or o knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate. Special Knowledge/Skills:Ability to communicate effectively with bilingual students

Responsibilities
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Cooperatively perform tasks under the supervision of assigned certified professional employees in a variety of instructional settings.
- Provide assistance to teachers and related service personnel in preparing and implementing instructional curriculum, and daily classroom routines.
- Work with individual students and with groups as directed.
- Anticipate the needs of the teacher(s) and students to maximize instructional time on task.
- Assist in testing routines including data collection and criterion-referenced assessments.
- Operate, store, and use educational media, computers and equipment as directed.
- Engage in activities, which promote positive communication and understanding school and community.
- Participate in in-service training workshops as required by the District, principal or designee (i.e. academic instruction, crisis management, compliance training).
- Appropriately manage students physically, verbally, and non-verbally who may be out of control, working collaboratively with the instructional team.
- Keep data and compile records as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee.
