Description
Stargate Charter School is seeking an individual to assist students by helping individuals or small groups of students with reading, writing and basic math skills, implementing instruction, reinforcing learning skills, and reinforcing school-wide discipline procedures. Assists teachers with preparation of classroom materials, monitoring students, and evaluating and recording student achievement.
This is a full time, 9 month position and the hourly pay range from $18.98 - $23.99 depending on experience. Requirements
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists students with classroom activities.
- Implements teacher’s instruction plan.
- Assists with adapting the curriculum to meet individual student needs.
- Performs tutoring, both individually and with small groups to ensure mastering of subjects.
- Assists teachers in preparing materials, administering tests, grading, attendance, etc.
- Assists with paperwork and documentation as needed.
- Monitors students during breaks, recess, time outs, on field trips, etc.
- Monitors students during lunch which includes in the lunchroom and playground.
- Assists with special projects.
- May administer first-aid and/or assist students to clinic or nurse.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in working with school age children preferred.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
- Criminal background check required for hire.
- First Aid certifications required within 3 months after entering position.
Technical Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Ability to diffuse and manage stressful situations with students.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to keep up-to-date technically and apply new knowledge to your job. Includes adapting to and mastering new system applications and processes as implemented by the school or department.
- Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Stargate Policies and building and department procedures.
- Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
Materials and Equipment Operating Knowledge:
- Operating knowledge of and experience with technology.
- Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier, audio/visual equipment, etc.
- Operating knowledge of school information technology systems and any other department specific software and equipment required within 2 months after entering position.
