Job Title: Sanitation Worker
Reports To: Sanitation Lead, General Manager, and Operations Manager
Summary
The Sanitation Worker is critical to maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant production environment at Starter Bakery. This role involves cleaning and sanitizing equipment and facilities, managing waste disposal, and adhering to the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS). The ideal candidate will demonstrate attention to detail, follow safety protocols, and ensure all sanitation tasks are completed to meet food safety and quality standards.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesWaste Collection and Disposal
- Collect and empty trash, recycling, and compost containers into designated bins.
- Follow posted guidelines for proper waste sorting, handling, and disposal.
- Safely transport waste to dumpsters or disposal areas, adhering to safety protocols and hazardous material guidelines.
Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS)
- Execute cleaning tasks as outlined in the MSS, ensuring completion and timely sign-off for daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly tasks.
- Follow Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs) to maintain cleanliness and compliance with food safety standards.
Cleaning and Sanitizing Equipment
- Clean and sanitize equipment and tools according to manufacturer guidelines and food safety requirements.
- Verify and document completion of cleaning tasks.
Facility Cleaning
- Maintain cleanliness in all facility areas, including ovens, proofer boxes, bathrooms, mixing rooms, lamination rooms, walk-in coolers, and freezers.
- Promptly clean spills and debris to ensure a safe working environment.
Safety and Compliance
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all workplace safety protocols.
- Comply with local, state, and federal regulations for waste disposal and recycling.
- Report unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or potential hazards to supervisors immediately.
General Labor
- Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, and moving materials up to 50 lbs.
- Support additional cleaning or maintenance tasks as directed.
Additional Experience, Training, and Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred, not required).
- On-the-job training provided.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety standards is a plus.
Work Schedule
- Early morning, evening, or weekend shifts may be required.
- Flexibility to accommodate schedule changes and production needs.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform repetitive physical tasks.
- Ability to work in variable temperatures, including heat and cold.
- Standing, walking, or moving for extended periods.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.67 per hour
