This posting is for a part time Legal Administrative Intern (Summer 2025) with the JAG (Judge Advocate General) Office at the NC National Guard (NCNG) Headquarters located in Raleigh, NC.  The NCNG is a division of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety (DPS). This Internship is expected to start on May 19, 2025 and last for 10 weeks, ending on July 25, 2025. The work schedule is part time, up to 30 hours per week Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. The rate of pay is $18.00 per hour.


The Legal Intern will assist the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate (JAG) in providing full spectrum legal services to The Adjutant General of the North Carolina National Guard, and the Joint Force Command Staff, and to Soldiers, Airmen, and their families.  

  

The Legal Intern will research legal issues in the following areas: administrative law, contracts and fiscal law, criminal law, civilian personnel law, ethics, decedents’ estates, wills, and general legal assistance matters.

In addition, the intern will participate in Staff and client meetings, as well as provide assistance to Judge Advocates with briefings and development of legal opinions and advice.

To qualify for this position, applicants must demonstrate ALL of the following KSAs: 

  • College coursework in law and/or basic legal or research experience.

This internship is for applicants currently pursuing a degree in Law or Pre-Law (preferred) but all majors will be considered. Recent graduates (within the last 6 months) will also be considered

Transcripts

Military Experience 

  • Applicants seeking Veteran's Preference must attach a DD-214 Form (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty that includes Character of Discharge - Member 4 or Service 2 form) to the application.
  • Applicants seeking National Guard Preference:
    1. A current member of the North Carolina National Guard in good standing must attach a NGB 23A (RPAS).
    2. A former member of the North Carolina National Guard who served for at least 6 years and were discharged under honorable conditions, must attach either a DD256 or NGB 22.
