Job Summary:
The Industrial Engineering Manager leads the engineering team to improve manufacturing processes, reduce waste, and optimize production efficiency. This role, while reporting into the Plant Engineer, requires close collaboration with production, maintenance, quality, and operations teams to identify and implement process improvements. The Industrial Engineering Manager will use data analysis, time studies, and lean manufacturing principles to streamline operations and support the company’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Optimization: Analyze existing manufacturing processes and identify areas for improvement in quality, efficiency, and productivity.
- Lean Manufacturing: Lead and implement lean manufacturing initiatives, such as Kaizen, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Capacity Planning: Assess production capacity and develop strategies to optimize resource allocation, reduce bottlenecks, and increase throughput.
- Project Management: Oversee projects related to facility layouts, production line changes, and equipment upgrades to support operational goals.
- Data Analysis: Use statistical tools to analyze production data, identify trends, and provide recommendations to support data-driven decision-making.
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop the industrial engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Cost Reduction: Identify cost-saving opportunities through waste reduction, material optimization, and efficiency improvements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, quality, and operations, to ensure alignment on improvement projects.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure that all process changes comply with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
- Reporting: Prepare and present reports on productivity, efficiency metrics, and project statuses to senior management.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in industrial or manufacturing engineering, with 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt preferred), and statistical analysis software. Familiarity with CAD, ERP, and production planning tools.
- Leadership Skills: Strong ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team toward continuous improvement goals.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a strong analytical approach to troubleshooting and optimizing processes.
- Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with cross-functional teams and present to senior management.
- Certifications: Lean Six Sigma certification is preferred, along with other relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, CIE).
