We are seeking a motivated leader to direct our MEPT team’s growth and development efforts, with special emphasis on the healthcare and higher-ed markets. This is a Principal-track position with potential ownership opportunities within the first several years.

Essential Duties
- Responsible for leadership and direction of Iowa City office operations
- Supervise staff within the office and perform periodic performance and goal-setting reviews
- Promote teamwork and camaraderie, maintain culture and positive office environment
- Coordinate billing projections and invoicing with project managers and the accounting department
- Participate in company management and leadership activities
- Lead weekly office meetings and participate in team meetings
- Keep a pulse on the capabilities and capacity of team members to help make the best decisions for the team
- Assist in the recruitment of new staff
- Maintain existing relationships and develop new client relationships
- Direct and coordinate business development and proposal activity
- Coordinate with office/regional team leads on resource scheduling
- Act as the main point of contact for clients
- Ensure quality control reviews are performed for all projects
- Act as a mentor for junior staff
- Participate in department activities
- Advise and assist in the creation and maintenance of design standards and technical resources
- Serve as engineer of record and lead design activity on selected projects
- Manage full MEPT design team on select projects
Required Knowledge/Abilities
- Independent judgments such as setting task priorities, evaluating results, coordinating with others, etc.
- Skills in understanding, explaining, teaching, and influencing people are important to achieving job objectives, causing action, or understanding in others
- Requires in-depth knowledge of own discipline (electrical, mechanical, or technology) and a knowledge of construction in general.
- Requires the ability to integrate theoretical and practical information and apply that information to construction projects
- Excellent communication and human relation skills
- Ability to solve a variety of complex problems where only limited standardization exists, or in the absence of technical guidelines or precedents
- Requires a commitment to quality and teamwork
Education/Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- PE License (preferred)
- Ten years of progressively responsible experience in mechanical or electrical consulting engineering
- History of leadership roles such as a project manager, team lead, department supervisor, mentor, etc.
