Focus: Veterans with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and Co-occurring Mental Health Conditions

Fortitude Recovery Program by Summit Estate is a specialized treatment facility dedicated to serving veterans facing substance use disorders (SUD) and co-occurring mental health challenges. With a strong emphasis on trauma and PTSD-informed care, we offer comprehensive and culturally sensitive treatment designed to meet the unique needs of our veteran clients.

Position Overview
We are seeking a Licensed Residential Therapist to provide direct therapeutic and mental health services to veterans recovering from substance use disorders. This position focuses on delivering trauma-informed, evidence-based care in a supportive and structured treatment environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in substance use disorder treatment, co-occurring disorders, and trauma care, with a special emphasis on veterans.

Reports To: Clinical Director

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct therapeutic services to a caseload of 6-8 veteran clients dealing primarily with substance use disorders
  • Conduct comprehensive intake assessments and ongoing evaluations to track client progress
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, with a focus on SUD and co-occurring disorders
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to develop individualized, veteran-focused treatment plans
  • Offer family education and therapy to support veterans' loved ones throughout the recovery process
  • Provide therapeutic interventions and crisis management for clients experiencing emotional dysregulation or relapse
  • Assist in creating effective discharge plans to ensure long-term recovery success
  • Maintain thorough and timely documentation of all client interactions and therapeutic services

Qualifications

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences
  • Extensive experience in treating substance use disorders (SUD), with knowledge of co-occurring mental health disorders and post-acute withdrawal symptoms
  • Expertise in trauma-informed care and working with veterans, particularly those dealing with PTSD and other trauma-related issues
  • Ability to recognize signs of substance intoxication and provide appropriate interventions
  • CPR and First Aid Certification, with an annual tuberculosis test as required
  • Valid California Driver’s License and ability to pass an MVR check for insurance purposes
  • Flexibility in schedule to meet the needs of clients and the program

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage a caseload and prioritize tasks independently
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills for working with veterans, their families, and the treatment team
  • Professional conduct that adheres to nondiscrimination laws, ethical guidelines, and client confidentiality standards
  • Commitment to maintaining a drug-free workplace and following workplace policies and guidelines

Professional Conduct
The therapist will represent the Fortitude Recovery Program by Summit Estate Recovery Centers with professionalism, maintaining punctuality and complying with the highest ethical standards. This includes adherence to client rights, confidentiality, and state and federal laws governing substance use disorder treatment.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
