Description
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Ensuring that we are open and ready for business during all posted operating hours.
2. Working with the plant manager and other employees to ensure the facility runs smoothly and efficiently.
3. Operating the grain receiving pits ensuring:
a. Incoming grain is deposited into the correct silo
b. Opening and closing the grain discharge openings on the inbound vehicles
c. Cleaning the delivery areas between loads
d. Monitoring the grain equipment being used to maximize the unloading speed
e. Thanking the customers for their business after each load
4. Assist in keeping grain dust in the facility to less than 1/8 inch in depth. All grain spills need to be cleaned up immediately.
5. Keeping areas surrounding the elevator clean and professional
6. Assist in emptying the grain bins including operation of the grain bin sweeps, shoveling, and sweeping as needed.
7. Assist in loading rail cars including opening, closing, and sealing car doors and cleaning the interior of the cars as needed.
8. Assist in loading of rail cars by operating the load out computer as needed.
9. Learn and be aware of blending grain to ensure the train is loaded to the known specifications to maximize profits.
10. Learn and conduct proper plant maintenance when assigned by the plant manager.
11. Learn and operate the grain dryers when assigned by the plant manager.
12. Accurately weigh, sample, test, and record inbound grain when assigned, thanking the customer for their business.
13. Keep busy at all times.
14. Talk with the plant manager daily about:
a. Remaining dumping space and anticipated plug dates.
b. Grain quality concerns. Management needs to know this ASAP.
c. Any and all customer issues.
d. Harvest planning and anticipated needs.
e. Equipment problems and needed repairs or upgrades.
15. Practicing and promoting safety at all times.
16. Working in the agronomy division in the off season as assigned.
17. Have or obtain a Class A CDL within 3 months of hire date.
18. Ability to work long varied hours and days as business dictates.
19. During certain times of the year, may be asked to work in other areas of location.
20. Any and all other duties as assigned by management.
21. MUST BE ABLE TO LIFT 50 LBS.
