Summary Of Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team in the heavy metal fabrication industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing project specifications, preparing cost estimates, and ensuring competitive and accurate pricing for materials, labor, and production processes. This role requires strong analytical skills, industry knowledge, and proficiency in estimating software to drive efficient and profitable project execution.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Analyze blueprints, technical drawings, and customer specifications to determine project requirements.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Work closely with engineering, production, and sales teams to develop competitive pricing strategies.
  • Source material costs and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement.
  • Utilize estimating software and spreadsheets to generate detailed proposals and quotations.
  • Assess risks, potential challenges, and profitability of projects before submission.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and customer requirements.
  • Track and review completed estimates to analyze accuracy and improve future estimating processes.
  • Assist in contract negotiation and review by aligning estimated costs with project execution.
  • Stay updated on market trends, material pricing, and advancements in fabrication technology.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.

  • High school diploma or general education (GED).
  • 5 or more years of manufacturing and related experience in a heavy metal fabrication environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with the capacity to identify hazards, evaluate risks, and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Able to confidently communicate and present facts verbally and in writing.
  • A self-motivated, detail-oriented critical thinker.
  • Ability to work well individually and in a team environment.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
