Description:
Working independently under general direction, the General Clerk III uses some subject matter knowledge and judgment to complete assignments consisting of numerous steps varying in nature and sequence. The Clerk selects from alternative methods and refers to problems not solvable by adapting or interpreting substantive guides, manuals, or procedures.
Responsibilities:
Typical duties related to Benefits include: assisting in a variety of administrative matters; maintaining a wide variety of financial or other records (stored both manually and electronically); verifying reports for accuracy and completeness; compiling information; and handling customer requests.
- Verifies employee’s insurance eligibility to enroll for coverage under major medical or other insurance carriers as required;
- Processes enrollments for health, dental and other employee benefit programs;
- Acts as a liaison with insurance companies to resolve any issues or discrepancies related to billing and coverage;
- Accurately inputs and updates employee benefit information in HR systems and databases;
- Handles questions from employees, providing information about Benefit options and addressing inquiries related to their Benefits;
- Maintains accurate records of employee benefit plans, changes and updates;
- May processes Workers’ Compensation reports and complete requests for wage reimbursement and wage information;
- Performs other duties as directed
Qualifications:
- 1 year of experience working in employee Benefits administration and open enrollment.
- A Bachelor degree and 1 years of experience OR a High School diploma and 5 years of experience in a government or federal contractor environment.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office family of software, to include as a minimum: MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint, at a level greater than 3 out of 5, on a scale of 1 to 5.
- Available to work flexible hours between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
