What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dietary Clerk position at Tamarack Health Hayward Medical Center?
The Dietary Clerk works closely with the Dietary Department Leaders to determine and place orders for food required for menu cycles, cafeteria, and special events. The Dietary Clerk receives shipments, properly stores items, and records invoices. The Dietary Clerk performs daily dietary department duties such as preparing, collecting, and keeping records of select menus. The Clerk provides nutritional screening and diet education as required.
- Determines quality and quantity of food required, plans and prepares master menus, including menus for therapeutic diets and controls food costs.
- Plans menus, purchases food for special functions, such as medical staff meetings, board meetings, and other related hospital functions.
- Assists with food preparation as needed.
- Assists Dietary Aides as needed
- Reviews records and reports covering number and kinds of regular and therapeutic diets prepared, nutritional and caloric analysis of meals, costs of raw food and labor, computations of daily ration cost and inventory of supplies.
- Maintains that supplies stay fresh and there are not expired items within the department.
- Works with Leads to record and maintain proper temperatures.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Certification in Dietary Management preferred.
- Participates in continuing education requirements to maintain certification.
