SENIOR DIRECTOR, SALES - RETAIL

Overview

As the Senior Director, Sales - Retail, you will be responsible for developing and driving strategic initiatives within existing customer accounts and targeting new customers to accelerate top-line growth across our product categories. This role will lead our retail sales team and represent a broad portfolio of products, including beans, tortillas and chips, taco shells, hominy, and salsa.

You will develop and lead market strategy recommendations both internally and externally, helping drive profitable distribution. The candidate will negotiate contracts, build relationships with existing and potential new customers, and seek opportunities to generate business growth. Successful candidates will leverage their existing customer relationships, technical expertise, and ingredient market knowledge to elevate Teasdale’s customer portfolio.

This is a leadership position for our Retail Sales organization, and you will work closely with our Procurement, Demand Planning, Product Lifecycle, Operations, R&D / Quality, and Category Insights teams to devise successful solutions and processes that are built to drive sales. This role requires a team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment, utilizes insights and data to create fact-based selling stories, and is adaptable to change.

What You'll Do

  • Dynamic thought leader who will create retail go-to-market strategies on both Teasdale Branded and private label offerings, delivering volume and revenue growth.
  • Strategic people leader responsible for managing and developing the retail sales team, helping to create the strategic framework that drives market penetration with existing and new customers via in-person and virtual calls, product training, food shows, selling stories, category insights, etc.
  • Collaborate directly with key stakeholders to architect and nurture a robust new business pipeline.
  • Manage the complete trajectory from concept to rollout of opportunities.
  • This leader will exhibit subject matter expertise and demonstrate from experience they have successfully built and created joint business planning models for customers.
  • Proactively develop and implement annual business plans across top customers.
  • Delivering key business and financial metrics, including topline results (Revenue, Volume, Share) and key financial metrics (e.g., EBITDA), is required.
  • Leverage syndicated and customer-specific data, creating a fact-based selling model to drive results.
  • Collaborative leader proactively working cross-functionally, developing and implementing overall customer selling stories while providing key insights to deliver all key execution metrics (Assortment, Pricing, Merchandising, Promotion, and Innovation).
  • Develop and leverage top-level relationships at major accounts to optimize Teasdale’s positioning in the market.
  • Understand market trends, pricing, risk management, and commercial landscape for Teasdale-specific categories.
  • Develop, coach, and manage SIOP and Forecasting recommendations monthly across Teasdale’s retail customer base to the internal Demand Planning team that ensures’ s flawless execution via OTIF.
  • Utilize business intelligence data, including sales reporting, demand planning/forecasting, syndicated data, customer insights, and OTIF reporting, to drive key selling stories as part of overall strategic planning with our customers and distributors.
  • Manage and coordinate broker and distribution partners as needed.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Customer Service, Finance, New Product Development, Demand Planning, and Operations to optimize sales flow.

What You'll Need

  • 10 years of consumer packaged goods experience, including sales or category management.
  • Experience developing, planning, and leading strategic internal and external initiatives.
  • Experience in a leadership role managing a team of 3 people.
  • Someone who gets things done is innovative and works with a sense of urgency.
  • Excellent data analytical and organizational skills, as well as the ability to create insightful presentations and business cases to drive results.
  • Ability to break down ambiguous problems into concrete, manageable components and think through optimal solutions.
  • Self-starter mentality with a high degree of follow-through; can own and take strategic initiatives to completion.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Someone who has high standards takes ownership and is invested in the outcome.
  • Someone who proactively helps others stays positive and has a good sense of humor.
  • Experience calling on mass and retail customers is a requirement.
