Job Summary
As a Land Surveyor, you will be responsible for conducting surveys to establish legal boundaries for properties and provide data relevant to the shape, contour, location, elevation, or dimension of land or land features.
Duties
- Conduct surveys to establish legal boundaries of properties, based on legal deeds and titles.
- Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys.
- Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
- Research historical maps, land records, and other data to obtain information about property boundaries.
- Use equipment such as GPS, GIS, AutoCAD, Trimble, and MicroStation to conduct surveys.
- Build and set up surveying equipment.
- Collect data on the earth's physical and man-made features for use in GIS databases.
Skills
- Proficiency in using surveying equipment such as total stations and GPS systems.
- Knowledge of CAD software like AutoCAD for drafting surveys.
- Ability to interpret engineering plans and schematics.
- Strong mathematical skills for accurate measurements and calculations.
- Familiarity with data collection techniques for land surveying purposes.
