What are the responsibilities and job description for the MHFA Trainer PRN position at Texana Center?
Role Responsibilities
The Mental Health First Aid Trainer (MHFA) PRN will provide instruction to MHFA classes in the service area as needed to fulfill training needs. The MHFA Trainer PRN will complete necessary course paperwork for submission according to the standard set out by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. The MHFA Trainer PRN will complete all necessary trainings to maintain instructor certification in at least one area and will complete updated trainings as required to maintain certification in either Youth or Adult MHFA. Current instructors will need to instruct at least 3 classes per year to maintain certification. If the candidate is not already trained in either the adult or youth MHFA curriculum the candidate will complete a MHFA course as a participant and the 3 day instructor course prior to teaching their first class.
Salary
- $450 per course taught
- $225 per course co-taught with another instructor
Required Education and/or Certifications, Experience, Skills
- High school diploma/GED
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
Preferred Education and/or Certifications, Experience, Skills
- Current Adult or Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor Certification
- Experience in the mental health field
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Rehabilitation or other Human Services discipline that meets QMHP requirements, from an accredited college or university
Job Related Physical Requirements
- Must be able to perform SAMA and CPR.
- Must be able to perform moderate lifting and carrying (15-44#), pushing, stooping, repeated bending, reaching above shoulder, simple grasping, hearing, walking, sitting and twisting.
- Must have ability to see, write, operate office equipment, operate a motor vehicle and have depth perception.
- Qualified individual must be able to perform these functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
