Summary:
Responsible for the providing legal guidance, assistance, and to the extent permissible/appropriate, representation in US litigation files managed by the Insurance and Compliance group (i.e., accident, personal injury, property damage, cargo and workers’ compensation files). Position will also entail providing legal guidance, assistance and representation in relation to potential legal issues arising with insurance carriers in relationship to active/potential litigation matters.
Description:
- Provide legal guidance to TFI Compliance Team in relation to all aspects of US litigation files managed by that team (accidents, personal injury, property damage, cargo claims, workers compensation).
- Represent and/or provide legal guidance to TFI and its subsidiaries in disputes with insurance carriers related to US Litigation matters managed by TFI Compliance Team
- Oversee outside counsel in relation to US accident, personal injury, property damage, cargo claims, and workers compensation litigation matters.
- Develop and execute case strategies for US Litigation matters and correspond with TFI and its subsidiaries regarding all aspects of litigation matters.
- Support the compliance, insurance and claims sector in various legal tasks;
- Perform other related duties.
Requirements:
- 5 years of experience in the transportation litigation field (accident/personal injury), including significant courtroom experience;
- Strong knowledge/understanding of transportation law, and especially Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Detail orientated with a collaborative and practical approach to the practice of law.
Preferred:
- Member of a state Bar;
- Trial experience is a strong preference.
