Description

Position Summary:

The role of Community Living House Supervisor is responsible for the oversight of their assigned house within the Community Living department, the supervision of the house staff, providing direct support to the staff and supported people within those houses or areas and the coordination of services and aspects of the supported persons’ lives in their house.

In a manner consistent with supporting The Arc NCR Mission Statement the Community Living House Supervisor shall do the following:

  • Actively participate in hiring process to include interviews, career fairs, and new hire orientation.
  • Oversee staff training to ensure compliance to include annual training, CMT, Person Specific Trainings and Med Errors.
  • Ensure new staff are trained on IP’s and BSP’s within 2 weeks and signature sheet submitted.
  • Schedule and complete new employee peer training checklist and submit to HR. 
  • Hold monthly team meetings and supervisions with all DSP staff. 
  • Shadow/observe, coach, and give feedback to DSP’s while visiting homes.  This includes reviewing start/end of shift, administering medications, morning/evening routines, etc. 
  • 24/7 On call responsibilities from supported people, families, and staff. 
  • Manage staff schedules, manage callouts coverage shifts when necessary.
  • Ensure all staff are trained on wheelchair accessible vehicles where applicable.
  • Collaborate with HR and Safety to review Drivers Alerts and ensure completion of next steps.
  • Review ICM daily for task completion, medication verifications and errors, and documentation is entered by end of shift.
  • Submit weekly paperwork every Monday by noon.
  • Complete and submit house inspections by the 5th of each month.
  • Support QE in investigations, staff for meetings, and house reviews.
  • Review and sign completed fire drill for accuracy no later than the 5th of the month.
  • Communicate with the Program Manager via phone call of any urgent care visits, hospitalizations, vehicle accidents, major staffing issues or concerns and police, fire or ambulance involvement or any calls to 911. 
  • Seek support from HR regarding mediations, corrective actions, and terminations.
  • Timely response to emails from HR, Finance, QE, Psych, Development, DSP’s, and their AD/Director throughout the day. 
  • Review communication book to ensure proper documentation and initial. 
  • Review IP books to ensure Ips/PIP’s are present.
  • Review PMOF book in home to make sure that current PMOF and/or scripts are available. 
  • Attend medical appointments as necessary. 
  • Complete 45 Day Review within 2 weeks of the nurse’s visit and submit to the program manager and program specialist via email.
  • Ensure RMA’s and PMOF’s are filed correctly.
  • Ensure emergency packets are up to date with current PMOF’s and face sheets. 
  • Confirm same day delivery of medications from pharmacy for hospital and urgent care discharges. 
  • Review cycle filled medications monthly.
  • Review and sign off on all grocery receipts, PUF receipts (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and special requests) to ensure funds were used appropriately and submitted by the designated due date.
  • Assist with spending of start-up funds for new supported persons.
  • Work with Benefits Manager to ensure that individuals attend Housing or SSA appointments.
  • Ensure all individuals ID’s are current. 
  • Ensure Activity Plans are submitted at least two weeks in advance for planned activity and 30 days in advance for any vacations and proper documentation is attached. 
  • Attend individual Pre-IP and IP meeting as necessary and ensure staff is trained on new IPs within 20 days after the IP meeting and signatures are submitted to the Advocacy Specialist. 
  • Collaborate with day program staff when emergency issues arise.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned, including special projects and cross-program development.

Qualifications


Education, Training and Experience:

  • One to two (1-2) years of experience in the human services field; Residential or Personal Support preferred. 
  • At least two (2) years of supervisory or peer training experience in a Residential environment. 
  • High School Diploma required; Associates (AA) or Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree’s preferred. 
  • AA may substitute for two (2) years of human services experience; BA/BS may substitute for 4 (4) human services years of experience. 
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties associated with this position, an employee (using approved agency lifting techniques) will be called upon to support and lift an adult with developmental and other disabilities; transfer a person to and from wheelchairs; to and from beds; on and off toilet seats; in and out of showers; and, in and out of vans or other vehicles. An employee in this position must be able to physically intervene (when appropriate and in an approved manner) to protect a person from causing harm to themselves or others and to safely evacuate the community residence/van/facility during an emergency. These duties may entail occasionally exerting 50-70 pounds of force by pulling, pushing, or lifting objects or people.  The employee will collaborate with people who possess diverse disabilities and may exhibit a spectrum of behaviors, potentially including assertive and unpredictable behavior.

Employees will regularly be required to stand; walk; sit; use hands (or hands and arms) to carry, finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; crouch and kneel. Employees will also be regularly required to hear (with or without hearing devices), see (with or without corrective lenses), and speak.

Additional Requirements:

  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Active valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and no more than two (2) points.
  • Maintain proof of current automobile insurance.
  • Maintenance of all required trainings under DDA guidelines and The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region policies and procedures.
  • Flexibility of scheduling to meet agency and program needs.

Salaried Position

Min. Annual Salary $54,540.00 

Max. Annual Salary $57,520.00 

Factors taken into account for Higher Education Degrees and the NADSP Supervisor Badge Certificate.
