The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region (The Arc NCR) is hiring for a Philanthropy Manager to join its Development team!
The Philanthropy Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors. A key member of The Arc NCR’s Development team, the role will work with executive leadership and other key stakeholders in developing and executing cultivation and solicitation strategies to support The Arc NCR’s future philanthropic opportunities. Additionally, this role involves creating and executing strategies to enhance the agency’s resources, including community involvement, special events, marketing, and brand awareness. The position reports to the Vice President of Advancement.
In a manner consistent with supporting The Arc NCR Mission Statement the Philanthropy Manager shall do the following:
- Must be a highly successful fundraising professional with a track record of building and cultivating donor relationships and closing gifts in the five to six figure range.
- Responsible for building relationships with prospective donors to understand how their philanthropic priorities align with The Arc NCR’s fundraising initiatives.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward five and six figure gifts from parents, families, friends and community members of The Arc NCR.
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 100 to 125 donors and prospects.
- Create and execute donor strategies that incorporate all aspects of the gift cycle i.e., identification/qualification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship.
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders, Development team members, and senior leadership to cultivate and solicit donors for increased annual giving and major gifts.
- Ability to collect, organize and analyze data related to donor giving. Will collaborate with Vice President of Advancement to establish benchmarks and regular reporting processes to measure results of all giving activities.
- Create appropriate stewardship strategies to ensure positive and purposeful prospect and donor relations.
- Participate in donor prospect visits, as appropriate.
- Participate and assist in all agency fundraising and cultivation events, and follow-up with major gift prospects.
- Ensure donor strategies are accurately tracked in the agency’s fundraising database.
- Represent The Arc NCR at business networking events.
- Interface with Development & Volunteer Coordinator to aid in volunteer to donor conversion.
- Knowledge of The Arc NCR and a passion for The Arc NCR’s mission and values.
- Ability to staff occasional evening and weekend events in the community throughout the year.
- Create and nurture a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization.
- Superior oral and written presentation skills.
- Patient listener, likable, diplomatic, and engaging.
- Undertake other duties as assigned, including special projects and cross-program development.
Education, Training and Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of successful experience in major, planned gift fundraising, or annual funds.
- Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree a plus.
- A thorough knowledge of Windows-based computer applications and database functions.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Experience working with CRM fundraising databases such as Raiser’s Edge.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Exceptional attention to details.
- Strong motivation, high energy, and ability to work independently or with a team.

Salary : $70,000 - $80,000
