Position Overview

Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc., a Davey company, is seeking an environmental scientist with three years to five years of experience to join our growing team in our Gainesville, Virginia office. PWS/PWD preferred.

Scope of Work

Including, but not limited to:
• Wetlands Delineation
• Endangered and Threatened Species Studies
• Wetlands Mitigation Monitoring and Site Assessments
• Stream Restoration Monitoring
• Chesapeake Bay Preservation Studies and Approvals
• Other environmentally related studies, as required
• Participating in industry organizations
• Inter-department coordination and communication within WSSI/Davey
• Other tasks and assistance to other departments at WSSI/Davey as needed

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field; and working knowledge of environmental regulations pertaining to 401/404 Clean Water Act, Virginia Water Protection (VWP) permit program, NEPA, and Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act.
 
Strong knowledge of/experience in one or more of the following fields desired:
• plant identification (including trees/shrubs)
• soils
 
Also required:
• general natural history knowledge/interest
• willingness to travel regionally
