Grain Originator

The Grain Originator plays a pivotal role in positioning The DeLong Company's assets to yield the greatest long-term return. This individual fosters collaboration with other grain divisions to assist and complement each other when marketing grain.

In this capacity, the Grain Originator is responsible for monitoring risks associated with the futures market, freight, quality, and basis. By developing strong relationships with producers, they aim to benefit both the producer and the buyer.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintaining awareness of grades on inbound and outbound grain, as well as market trends, to maximize profit from quality.
• Providing exceptional customer service and dedication to end-users through strong personal skills.
• Managing risk associated with futures transactions by implementing proper hedging strategies and rolling ownership.
• Identifying and expanding new markets.
• Collaborating with merchandisers, logistics, accounting, facility staff, and customers.
• Employing cash bids, HTA's, basis contracts, or marketing programs to cater to customer needs.
• Ensuring consistent communication and follow-up with producers.
• Cold calling customers.
• Validating payments, settlements, freight invoices, and grades.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree.
• 1-3 years of computer knowledge.
• 1-3 years of grain experience.
• Negotiation skills.
• Understanding of logistics.
• Strong customer relations.
