Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to patients in various healthcare settings. The ideal candidate will assist with daily living activities, ensuring comfort and safety while promoting the highest quality of care. This role is vital in helping patients maintain their independence and dignity, particularly in environments such as medical-surgical units, emergency medicine, outpatient clinics, and teaching hospitals.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Monitor and report changes in patient conditions to nursing staff.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients.
- Help with meal preparation and feeding as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
- Assist with basic medical tasks under the supervision of healthcare professionals, including vital sign checks.
- Support patients in rehabilitation exercises as directed by medical staff.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the facility.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or in a similar caregiving role is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical-surgical practices is a plus; familiarity with Level I and Level II Trauma Centers is advantageous.
- Understanding of emergency medicine protocols and outpatient care procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments such as teaching hospitals or clinics.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Compassionate demeanor with a strong commitment to patient care and advocacy.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if necessary.
