Description
A Head Lifeguard ensures the safety of patrons at The J's aquatic facilities by preventing and responding to emergencies. A Head Lifeguard also serves as a supervisor during specified shifts. The position of Head Lifeguard requires excellent interpersonal skills, a high standard of customer service and the ability to serve as a role model and supervisor for Lifeguards. The position is part time. All shifts available. The pool is open from 5 a.m. - 9 p.m. This position is active Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Responsibilities
- Follows and enforces all rules throughout the Aquatics Facilities
- Maintains constant surveillance of Members in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of Members in the event of emergency
- During assigned shifts, serves as a supervisor of Lifeguards
- Assists with training Lifeguards, monitoring their performance and coaching for improvement and development
- Completes the appropriate daily paperwork during the shift
- Performs various maintenance and cleaning duties
- Attend the one mandatory in-service training scheduled for each month during the fall/winter and two mandatory in-service trainings scheduled for each month during the summer
- Performs additional job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Lifeguard Training
- First Aid
- CPR & AED Pro
- Must be 17 years of age
- Previous experience as a Head Lifeguard or supervisor is preferred, but not required
- Pass Swim Assessment that includes 300-yard swim; 2 minute tread; timed 10 lb brick test and full CPR scenario on-land
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
- Able to complete the LG pre-course skills: 300 swim, 20 yrd brick test, 2 minutes of treading
- Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods of time
