The direct support professional provides day to day interactions, care and assistance for individuals served as outlined in each Ohio Individual Support Plan. The Direct Support Professional at The Society will provide assistance, support and guidance in the following areas, as each site requires:
- Activities Of Daily Living (ADL’S)
- Promotes independence in domestic tasks (home chores, cleaning)
- Safety and security to ensure healthy living.
- Environmental cleanliness
- Personal care
- Transportation
- Community living and integration
- Upholding individual’s rights
- Supports individuals with a mindset focused on the agency Mission and Vision including advocacy and engagement.
- Engage in positive, collaborative interactions communication and support of individuals and team members at all times.
- Provide input for the development and implementation of Ohio Individual Support Plans including documentation.
- Ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all individuals including all reporting and documenting per agency policy and procedure and regulatory requirements.
- Perform medication administrative tasks, health related activities and documentation as required by DODD certification.
- Demonstrates punctuality and dependability. May be required to work holidays and other shifts outside of your normal schedule.
- Represents The Society with a professional attitude and positive intention while promoting effective internal and external relationships, communication and advocacy. Serves as a self-motivated, dependable, flexible and collaborative leader.
- Adheres to The Society’s policies and acts as a role model in adherence to these policies.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Bona-fide Occupationally Required Competencies and Credentials:
§ Must be 18 years of age or older.
§ Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
§ Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
§ Must be able to communicate in English including both spoken and written.
§ Must obtain and maintain certification in Medication Administration and Health Related Activities, First Aid, CPR, PMT and other courses as required.
§ Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License, good driving record, and carry the proper liability insurance amounts required by The Society as applicable.
Travel: Meetings and site visits within the agency; meetings, appointments, outings and training outside of the agency.
Reports to: Adult Day Services Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt; Full-time 40 hours
Supervises: N/A
Works with: Individuals, families, professionals and medical specialists, administrative support staff, maintenance personnel and community members.
Physical Demands/Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical demands: While performing duties of the job, employee is required to stand, walk, sit, drive, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Based on results of the Hazard Assessment for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), PPE may be required as outlined in the Infection Prevention and Control Manual and/or the Covid-19 Safety Preparedness and Response Plan. Required PPE may include: gloves, masks, gowns, goggles, face shields and/or N95 respirators.
General Sign-off: The employee is expected to adhere to all Society policies and act as a role model in the adherence to these policies.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
