What are the responsibilities and job description for the Busser position at The Thermal Club?
Purpose:
The role of the busser is to assist the kitchen and dining room staff in many capacities. The busser should serve our Members in accordance with The Thermal Club standards of food and beverage quality in a detailed, professional, and pleasant manner, as well as display hospitality and professionalism. Teamwork with management and co-workers is essential. The busser should comply with the Food & Beverage Department’s standard operating procedures and The Thermal Club mission statement and credo.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining all standard operating procedures.
- Responsible for flow management, concentrating on busy areas first.
- Responsible for following all club rules and regulations.
- Responsible for inventory control through conscientious use and careful monitoring of all food and beverage products.
- Remove tableware: to keep the table from getting overcrowded and make diners more comfortable, remove used dishes and utensils between meal courses.
- Clear tables: after guests leave, clear the table of any remaining dishes, utensils, and food to prepare for the next diners.
- Sort and stack used tableware: assist the dishwashers by taking the used tableware into the dish room, sort and stack, ready it for washing.
- Assist food servers: help servers deliver food and assist with refills of water, beverages, or bread.
- Communicate Member’s requests and concerns to the server, lead server, or manager when appropriate.
- Maintain good working relationship with teammates.
- Attend all staff meetings.
- Maintain professional relationship with Members.
- Work all special events that require food and beverage service.
- Assist with opening and closing duties/procedures.
- Set up banquet lines for lunches. This includes, drink station, main food line, and cleanup lines.
- Maintain dining room sanitation standards by cleaning spills, sanitizing tables, chairs between guest seatings.
- Maintain the cleanliness of storage facilities.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
- Customer service: A busser interacts with members thought the meal, so it is important that they possess the ability to focus on the customer, providing service that will contribute to a positive dining experience.
- Team player: because they assist with the kitchen staff and servers, it is necessary for busser to work well as part of a team.
- Dexterity: agility is required as a busser because the position requires carrying and handling multiple dishes and tableware at the same time.
- Attention to detail: a Member’s dining experience can be diminished by small slights such as crumbs left on the table or in a chair, so it is imperative that bussers notice and take care of small details.
- Stamina: bussers need endurance as they often stand on their feet for an entire shift and are frequently required to lift 30 to 50 pounds.
- Food prep and wind knowledge preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to reach, bend, and stoop.
- Push, pull or lift 50lbs.
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Work in hot, humid, and noisy environment.
- Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
