Job Title: Staff Accountant
Position Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This role is essential for managing payroll processing, overseeing general ledger activities, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining payroll records, performing account reconciliations, and collaborating with the HR department for seamless data management. This role supports the Accounting Manager with monthly close procedures and assists with financial audits, contributing to the overall financial integrity of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Accounting Duties
- General Ledger Entries: Accurately record and reconcile payroll-related entries, including earnings, deductions, and benefits.
- Payroll Processing: Ensure timely and precise payroll runs by inputting and maintaining payroll data.
- Employee Data Management: Collaborate with HR to update and maintain current employee records.
- Reporting: Generate and distribute payroll reports for management review and decision-making.
- Wages and Insurance Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile wage accounts and insurance accruals.
- Account Balancing: Ensure payroll wages, liabilities, and withholdings are balanced and up to date.
General Ledger Accounting Duties
- Journal Entries: Post and manage intercompany transaction entries to maintain balanced financial statements.
- Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank and intercompany reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
- Audit Support: Assist in gathering documentation and data needed for internal and external audits.
- Month-End Close: Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciling general ledger accounts, accruals, and allocations.
- Cash Flow Analysis: Conduct weekly cash flow analysis to provide insights into the company’s financial health.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2 years in a Payroll Accountant or similar role, demonstrating experience with payroll processing and general ledger tasks.
- Strong knowledge of payroll software, accounting systems, journal entries, and tax reporting.
- Ability to interpret financial data, conduct reconciliations, and identify discrepancies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; adept at maintaining organized records.
- Proven ability to work effectively with HR and finance teams to ensure smooth operations.
