What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing Manager position at The Umstead Hotel and Spa?
Management:
● Management of all social media posts, content and responses for The Umstead’s accounts on all platforms.
● Manage day-to-day relationships with Public Relations Firm, Advertising and Media Agencies.
● Manage collateral design projects for respective departments with SAS or other outside vendors.
● Manage collateral inventory.
● Manage Targeted Email Marketing program. Produce content; create messages and manage multiple lists and segments.
● Responsible for working with photographers on property, negotiating price and ownership rights of images, as well as coordinating in-house details for any on-site photo shoots.
● Assist in the Sales & Marketing budget planning. Strive throughout the fiscal year to maintain sound financial practices and ensure spending is conservative.
● Work with Revenue Manager to monitor leisure business and with Sales & Catering to monitor need dates. Develop promotions based on opportunities in our business and trends in the marketplace.
● Liaison with Food and Beverage and Spa departments to ensure knowledge of all aspects of business is known. Actively market and promote all aspects of this business.
Media and Public Relations:
● Help Develop and execute annual marketing budget.
● Manage media plan to stay current with insertions, deadlines and broadcast content. Develop content for public radio underwriting credits and broadcast radio in conjunction with Director of Marketing.
● Manage and negotiate media trade agreements.
● In conjunction with the PR Firm, respond to press inquiries, submit written responses, edit press releases, process all photo/logo requests and coordinate any on-site photography or filming in conjunction with Public Relations coverage.
● Coordinate all media stays with Public Relations firm, communicating all on-site details to departments.
● Serve as company representative for Media visits including property tours, interviews and entertainment.
● In conjunction with the PR Firm, ensure relationship with local press is established and nurtured by networking, hosting media events and working with the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau.
● Work with Forbes Media and AAA on Public Relations initiatives, new media opportunities and new incentives.
● Meet with and evaluate prospective new media opportunities. Evaluate current and future needs and trends.
● Play an active role in the submission process for industry and local awards that the property may be eligible for.
● Establish indexed photography and video library with existing property imagery, including a dedicated library for the Sales Team to use
Web:
● Website content management.
● Responsible for website edits for company website. Experience working with Content Management Systems preferred.
● Responsible for Event Listings on company website.
● Maintain a Social Media presence for the entire property on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) , Instagram and Pinterest.
● Respond to Social Media inquiries on behalf of the hotel.
● Provide monthly (or quarterly) analytics reports for social channels and track current trends that are a fit for The Umstead.
● In conjunction with the PR Frim, identify influencers for collaborations
● Manage special web design projects such as redesigning or enhancements to our brand website or our partner websites.
● Monitor and maintain Umstead accounts on third-party sites such as Yelp, Tripadvisor, Open Table, Google, etc.- updating photography and menus seasonally, and hours/events as needed.
Hotel Involvement:
● Attend weekly Revenue meetings to further knowledge of revenue strategies and goals, weekly F&B meetings to foster communication and Manager Meetings to increase awareness of departmental updates. Attendance at weekly Sales meetings and line ups encouraged.
● Actively engage in Manager Meetings and All-Associate Meetings.
● Play an active role on hotel internal committees.
● Participate in Hotel volunteer initiatives.
● Coordinate and liaison with Food and Beverage team on special events throughout the year.
● Attend hotel-sponsored special events to gather content and photography.
Job Requirements:
● BS/BA degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or Hospitality preferred.
● Previous experience working in Marketing, Public Relations and/or Advertising in the hospitality industry preferred.
● A passion for Food and Beverage is required.
● Experience with Content Management Systems and Email Marketing platforms preferred.
● Solid understanding of project management and communication.
● Ability to multitask and work on more than one project at a time.
● Must be technologically skilled.
● Ability to manage projects from beginning to end.
● Ability to solve strategic problems and keep management informed on project developments.
● Ability to have the confidence to make immediate decisions on projects at task.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
