A Consultant II at Thinkbox Technology Group is a professional that uses computer-aided design systems to make technical drawings for low voltage and IT systems. The Revit Modeler will have tasks including creating, updating, and modifying BIM Models and drawings under the direction of an engineer or designer. The Revit Modeler will also fill out drawings with codes, methods, materials, and specifications and incorporates them with the input of architects, engineers, and surveyors.
Job Responsibilities:
Revit Modeler Responsibilities:
- Develop and prepare low voltage system design models and drawings using Revit.
- Interpret and implement architectural and structural features into the Revit model.
- Collaborate with designers and engineers to integrate low-voltage systems, such as data, security, AV, and communication systems, into building designs.
- Utilize BIM software to create and manage 3D models and drawings of building-related systems.
- Perform clash detection and assist in resolving conflicts.
- Maintain accurate documentation of design decisions, changes, and issues.
- Ensure compliance with local codes and regulations related to low-voltage systems.
- Continually enhance technical knowledge and stay updated with the latest industry trends.
- Creates drawings and models from verbal and written specifications obtained from the telecom designers, developing 3D models by analyzing 2D drawings and prototypes. Reviews engineering drawings to ensure they comply with cited specifications and standards.
- Works closely with engineers, designers, and other drafters to ensure the maintenance and of coordination design efforts. Completes project responsibilities within scope, schedule, and budget.
- Coordinates and collaborates with other professionals to understand design concepts and establish requirements.
- Clarifies discrepancies and revises design to produce a more accurate and thorough design set.
- In some cases, participation in project conference calls and meetings will be required.
- Complete project responsibilities within scope, budget, and schedule.
- Assigned to training and help develop junior drafters/modelers within the company.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Consultant II works a standard work week but may be required to work evenings and weekends to deliver urgent client deliverables.
Travel:
This position does not require any travel.
Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Revit Modeler, preferably in the field of low-voltage systems.
- Proficient in the use of Revit and other BIM software.
- Strong understanding of low voltage systems including data, AV, security, and communication systems.
- Familiarity with applicable local codes and regulations.
- Excellent technical drawing and 3D modeling skills.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a team and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Required Technical Knowledge:
- Revit experience
- Experience with BIM modeling concepts and processes
- Experience with Low Voltage Systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Revit or other BIM software.
- Experience in the construction industry.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD.
