Preschool Administration: Operations Manager – Early Childhood Education Supervision

Tiny Green Trees Nature-Based Child Care Center & Forest School

Location: Milwaukee, WI

Start Date: January 2025

Employment Type: Full-time

Compensation: $24-$25 hourly (~$50,000 -$52.000) annually, based on a 40-hour work week, leadership experience and education)

Tiny Green Trees Nature-Based Child Care Center & Forest School is dedicated to nurturing a safe, enriching environment for children to learn and grow in harmony with nature. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Operations Manager to join our leadership team. This position is critical to achieving our mission of providing exceptional, nature-based childcare services. The Operations Manager ensures the smooth functioning of our center by managing processes, systems, and staff, while driving innovation and upholding our core values.

Position Overview:

As the Operations Manager, you will oversee day-to-day operations, optimize workflows, manage personnel, and ensure compliance with licensing and safety regulations. This role is integral to maintaining high-quality childcare services and a supportive work environment for our team.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Oversight: Manage daily operations, ensuring efficiency and compliance with safety and licensing standards.

Team Leadership: Mentor, train, and support staff to foster high performance and teamwork.

Process Improvement: Analyze systems and develop, implement strategies to enhance productivity 

Staffing & Compliance: Ensure state-regulated child-to-staff ratios and oversee kitchen and food service operations.

Family Engagement: Manage communications with families, organize events, and conduct tours and orientations.

Facilities Oversight: Maintain the physical center environment, including inspections and inventory management.

Professional Development: Oversee training, performance reviews, and staff development initiatives.

Community Building: Lead staff meetings, family events, and administrative collaboration to foster a positive culture.

Essential Job Functions:

Ability to traverse a variety of landscapes

Ability to move a wagon/sled with up to 50 pounds of gear and supplies for distances of up to 1 mile.

Ability to physically position self in order to properly care for children

Ability to move and transport children weighing up to 50 pounds

Complete 30-35 hours of continuing education per year

Taste temperature and spice

Orally communicate clearly

Use technology to communicate, educate, manage, track, record, compute and more

Ability to be available between 6:30am and 6pm / on call as needed

Ability to understand and apply DCF Rules and Regulations for Licensed Group Centers

Qualifications:

  • Registry Level 12 or higher
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field 
  • Required state certifications (CPR/First Aid, Childcare Director Certification)
  • Experience in childcare management or operations leadership
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Successful completion of a background check and required health screenings
