What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bus Attendant - 2 Positions position at Tooele County School District?
- Assists special education students and other passengers for the purpose of providing safe loading and unloading from buses during normal transport and emergency situations.
- Attends unit meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. as required for the purpose of gathering information required to perform job functions.
- Instructs students for the purpose of enforcing rules/regulations and maintaining student safety and well being.
- Monitors students with special needs until released to teacher, instructional assistant, parent, etc. for purpose of ensuring the safe transportation of all passengers.
- Prepares reports (e.g. incident reports, passenger misconduct, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, conveying information, and/or complying with established guidelines.
- Reports observations and/or incidents (e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.) for the purpose of comunicating information to appropriate personnel for their action.
- Secures students and/or their equipment (e.g. restraints, wheel chair tie down, seat belts, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
- Accompanies students on field trips for the purpose of assisting with supervision.
- Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Use standard office equipment, such as personal computers and copiers.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications and organize and crete projects using Microsoft office products.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
- Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students with special needs.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required and possess effective writing and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to pass Physical Assessment test same as bus drivers(e.g. able to lift 40 lbs, drag a 120 lb object walking backwards).
- Works in standard office and school bus environment
- Ability to work outdoors during outdoor student activities.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Ability to pass Physical Assessment Test
- Prior experience working with special needs children desirable

Under the general direction of the Transportation Department and Special Education Department, employee will help creates an environment that is welcoming and conducive for the success of students and co-workers. Working closely with the departments to ensure students lists including health care plans for buses are updated and correct information given to drivers and attendants on busses.
