POSITION PURPOSE
The Aquatics Manager performs administrative, supervisory, and technical work related to the maintaining the daily operation of the Town pool facility including programs, maintenance, lifeguarding, and related activities, in accordance with budget guidelines, safety and legal requirements and all applicable federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for the daily operations of the Town Pool facility in accordance with policies and procedures. Ensures the safety and welfare of pool patrons, staff, and spectators.
Plans, organizes, implements, and manages monthly pool schedule, aquatics programs and rentals. Responsible for proper staffing for all public swims, pool programs and private pool rentals. Tracks and maintains pool usage and participation statistics.
Monitors pool chemicals, water quality and pool temperature. Maintains water balance through use of proper chemicals. Acquires professional testing for water quality as needed. Oversees regular maintenance and cleanliness of pool and locker rooms. Responds to alarm calls and issues.
Oversees smooth operation of pool activities, supervision, and training of pool staff, ensuring quality activities and safety requirements within allocated budget. Assigns daily responsibilities, oversees scheduling and payroll for pool staff.
Provides customer service and assistance, answers questions, requests, or concerns from the general public and program participants, explains and promotes pool programs and services. Updates pool information on the Town website and social media sites.
Responsible for tracking and processing payments and invoices in a timely manner in accordance with Town policies. Makes regular bank deposits for pool receipts.
Performs similar or related work as assigned, directed or as situation dictates. Regular attendance at the workplace is required.
SUPERVISION
Works under the general supervision and direction of the Director of Parks and Recreation. Supervises part time and seasonal employees.

JOB ENVIRONMENT
The majority of this work is done in an office or pool setting under conditions associated with an aquatic’s facility. Operates automobile, computer, and typical office and pool equipment. Has contact with the public, Town departments and staff, and local organizations. Works outside of normal business hours.
RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree, in health or physical education field preferred. Five years of Lifeguard/Water Safety Instructor experience, with at least three years in a supervisory role; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY AND SKILL
KNOWLEDGE: Thorough knowledge of water rescue procedures and aquatic facility maintenance. Thorough knowledge of pool equipment, materials, tools, facilities, hazards, and safety precautions. Knowledge of administrative and supervisory practices and techniques, proficiency with technology.
ABILITY: Ability to develop safe and cost-effective programs to meet community needs. Ability to be effective in emergency situations. Ability to communicate in-person, via phone, email and written with co-workers, the public, elected officials, board members, town departments, employees, and vendors.
SKILL: Skill in leadership, motivation, building relationships, customer service, and developing programs and services to meet the needs of the community. Proficient organization and planning skills. Skill in coordinating various program and projects simultaneously. Time management. Independent judgment and initiative are required in developing safe and effective pool operations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires frequent light to moderate physical effort while performing duties; must be able to access all areas of an aquatic facility; frequently required to spend several hours walking or standing. Requires use of hands and fingers to handle/operate tools and equipment and reach with hands and arms. Requires lifting, pushing, pulling, carryings, walking, standing, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, running, and swimming. Occasionally may require lifting/moving up to 60 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, color vision, depth perception, and adjustment of Vision and hearing at or correctable to normal ranges; requires ability to read documents and use a computer.
