Join Our Team as an Assistant Superintendent for the Highway Division!
The Town of Wellesley Department of Public Works is excited to announce an opening for an Assistant Superintendent in our Highway Division. Our team is responsible for maintaining all Town roads, streets, sidewalks, drainage, resurfacing, and managing the winter maintenance program.
What You'll Do : As the Assistant Superintendent, you'll step in for the Superintendent when needed and ensure our Division complies with all Federal, State, and Town regulations. You'll lead, supervise, and plan our operations, ensuring that our team is trained to work safely and effectively. Your role will involve preparing, managing, and monitoring budgets, creating project specifications, and coordinating activities with other DPW Divisions, utilities, municipal agencies, and private contractors. You'll be on call at all times to ensure smooth operations.
What We're Looking For :
o Education & Experience : An Associate's Degree in Civil Engineering with at least three years of relevant experience (preferably in a related Municipal Public Works field), or five years of equivalent education and experience in highway layout, construction, maintenance, drainage systems, design, or supervision related to highway activities.
o Skills : A solid understanding of civil engineering principles and practices, effective leadership abilities, strong public engagement skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills. You should also have great time management, organizational skills and knowledge of GIS.
o Licenses : A valid Massachusetts Class D driver's license is required.
