What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Clerk position at Triad Packaging, Inc.?
We are looking for an experienced Shipping Clerk to manage daily shipping and distribution operations. You will be the one to ensure complete orders are shipped and delivered in a timely manner. A successful shipping clerk is analytical, well-organized and excels in communication. They must be comfortable with paperwork and information systems and have great knowledge of shipping procedures. The goal is to ensure that the shipping processes are running smoothly and effectively.
Responsibilities
- Direct all activities associated with outbound shipments ensuring the timely shipment of scheduled customer orders, planning truck loading schedules, and providing order shipment status updates.
- Track and coordinate DOT inspections on equipment.
- Use software to track, check, prioritize and route orders
- Manage all important documents such as advanced shipping notice, pick slips, bills of lading etc.
- Supervise and lead subordinates (loaders, drivers)
- Resolve issues regarding shipped orders
- Ensure compliance to legal regulations and company policies
- Manage on-hand inventory and month end inventory.
- Maintain a clean, safe and injury-free work environment by ensuring health and safety procedures are understood and executed by all employees.
- Participate in production meetings and provide updates as needed.
- Report to management on activities and issues
- Verify counts at the point of receipt of Returned/Nonconforming Product.
- Assist/Coordinate disposition of Obsolete and Nonconforming Product.
- Investigate customer complaints concerning damaged product that may have been caused by shipping or transit damage.
Skills
- Able to operate a forklift safely and efficiently
- Ability to unload, unload trailers
- 2 years’ experience working in a shipping department.
- Solid knowledge of logistics procedures
- Forklift Experience
- Ability to work flexible hours when needed.
- Experience in using EDI and preparing shipping documents (e.g. ASN)
- Computer savvy with excellent knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel)
- Experience in directing and evaluating subordinates
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle numerous details, deadlines, and requests.

- Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple projects and/or requests concurrently.
- High school diploma: Degree is a plus
