Position Summary

The Maintenance Specialist position is responsible for assisting with the development of reliability-based maintenance strategy, based on preventive and predictive maintenance. They will work directly with the Maintenance Leader to build Logic Based reliable job plans, Scheduling activities & Work Coordination. The Maintenance Specialist will work independently and with other plant personnel to plan and/or Coordinate preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks utilizing planning techniques in alignment with the policies, goals, & objectives of the company.

Essential Job Functions

Planning Skillset - Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Clear understanding of Logic Based planning
  • Ability to create PM Plans & good receive outside services in SAP
  • Experience with requisitioning for parts and outside services
  • Plan the Preventive, repair, and replacement of all mechanical & electrical systems.
  • Conducts field walk downs to identify, photograph and document job requirements.
  • Estimates individual resource required hours, total duration time and skillsets required to complete the task scope.
  • Identifies materials, tools & equip. required to complete the task.
  • Determines & compiles all necessary documents into job package.
  • Keeps the bill of materials updated.
  • Accurately measure and sustain the work order backlog at a manageable level.
  • Participates in plant safety, health, and environmental programs.

Scheduling Skillset

  • Two years of maintenance scheduling experience utilizing Primavera 6 or Open Plan scheduling software.
  • Ability to step into the scheduling role on short notice
  • Clear comprehension and understanding of the following scheduler responsibilities:
  • Interpret planning logic downloaded into scheduling software
  • Ability to re-sequence plan steps utilizing Key-Sequence qualifiers
  • Read and interpret Histogram data to set resource levels
  • Can build Gantt Charts with time intervals

Work Coordination Skillset

  • Must have a working knowledge of equipment and piping systems
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Complete understanding of maintenance plans and specifications. (The installation and repair of common industrial equipment).
  • Read and understand plans and specifications, including diagrams, prints, orthographies and isometric drawings
  • Examine and inspect field conditions to identify problems, inaccuracies and cost saving measures that arise or may be encountered.
  • Inspect subordinates work for compliance with the maintenance plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and take correct actions if needed.
  • Listen to employee suggestions, complaints, problems, and safety concerns. Evaluate each and communicate follow up actions.
  • Complete daily schedule updates with scheduler as per procedure.
  • Train and encourage the compliance of safety practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Walk out and gain a complete understanding of the scope of work and related parts.
  • Distribute Job Packages and review task details with craftsmen at the start of work.
  • Monitor the quality of workmanship to ensure that correct procedures are observed.
  • Take appropriate corrective actions with direct reports when:

**Company policies or procedures are not complied

**Quality or productivity is less than adequate.

  • Review all job audits and JSAs to ensure they are correctly filled out, signed & returned to PC

*Complete OPUS (Open Plan Updating System) daily

EXPERIENCE

The minimum requirements of experience are listed below. Consideration will be given to individuals with an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Manage and coordinate the repair of all types of equipment and piping systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Coordinate the efforts of all work crews under his or her supervision and hold them accountable to accomplish the assigned work safely, correctly, and efficiently as scheduled.

  • At least 8 years of maintenance firsthand experience as a journeyman in millwright or pipefitting craft.
  • At least 1 year experience in Maintenance Scheduling
  • Clear understanding and experience with Logic Base planning (Primavera 6 or Open Plan):

*Ability to build and use maintenance library for repairs.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents and drawings.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

High School diploma or equivalent.

This position requires an employee to be in a process manufacturing environment. There will be minor exposure to various chemicals and compounds, some of them hazardous and/or flammable. Employees must be able to wear PPE required by the location.
