Summary
The Lead Athletic Trainer will be responsible for supervising eight Assistant Athletic Trainers within the Tulane Former Professional Athletes Programs and reporting to the Director as necessary. All Athletic Trainer positions will be clinic based and outreach focused as part of the Tulane Former Professional Athletes Programs. The Athletic Trainers will assist in maximizing the post-football health and wellness of former professional football players through the provision of facilitated access to high quality comprehensive evaluation and treatment plans.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
The Lead Athletic Trainer will be responsible for supervising eight Assistant Athletic Trainers within the Tulane Former Professional Athletes Programs and reporting to the Director as necessary. Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Exceptionally strong people skills with the ability to interact with professional and former professional athletes (and their significant other when appropriate)
- Fluent in the use of appropriate digital tools for communication (i.e. phone, electronic medical records, video technology, messaging devices, and other telehealth devices) to support participant care, to enhance interoffice and intra-office communications, and to maintain confidentiality and requirements of the HIPAA
- Goal-oriented, highly organized, proactive, assertive, and able to meet deadlines consistently
- Ability to advocate for excellence in patient services whether on-site or in other areas of the country
- Ability to coordinate and schedule multiple medical specialty evaluations, plan and adjust to medical itineraries as needed and care with members of the care team and the participant (and family where appropriate)
- Ability to foster a collaborative, customer-oriented working environment
- Demonstrate a strong record of initiative, problem-solving, and adaptability
- Strong listening, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to travel to national meetings and conferences
- Bachelorâs of Science in Athletic Training from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE)
- Five (5) years of directly related experience working with athletes afflicted with orthopaedic and/or psychological issues
- National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) at the time of hire
- Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners (LSBME)Certification required within 90-days of employment and maintained thereafter
- Work history in a medical setting
- Excellent clinical writing skills
