Description

The Program Director, Associate Degree Nursing position is a full-time 12-month faculty position responsible to the Department Chair, Nursing. The position is responsible for providing oversight of the Associate Degree Nursing program admission process, clinical coordination, student retention and remediation activities, coordinating faculty and collaborating with the Nursing Department Chair to perform program assessment and evaluation.

Essential Functions and Duties

Primary Responsibilities


  • Review and assist in preparation of curriculum revisions with nursing faculty.
  • Serve as ex officio member of all department committees
  • Ensure the total program evaluation is completed and distributed to faculty annually and all approved recommendations are implemented.
  • Assist in coordination of clinical experiences, preparation of faculty/staff schedules, and compliance with regulatory requirements of governing bodies.
  • Meet with team leaders/coordinators to discuss progress of courses, suggestions for improvement, and any matters having an impact on the program.
  • Communicate policy changes with clinical site liaisons and nursing faculty.
  • Assist in collecting data and preparing reports for regulatory bodies as necessary.
  • Make budget recommendations to the Nursing Department Chair.
  • Carry out departmental functions and participate in professional meetings and events in the absence of the Nursing Department Chair.
  • Provide positive leadership and direction to nursing faculty.
  • Provide opportunities for appropriate continuing education.
  • Assist in the recruitment process and recommend faculty/staff.
  • Assist in the orientation of new faculty/staff.
  • Provide input for faculty evaluation in collaboration with the Nursing Department Chair.
  • Fulfill specified obligations as a faculty member if necessary.
  • Prepare monthly departmental faculty meeting agendas.
  • Assist in the revision of assessment plans to evaluate program outcomes as needed.
  • Monitor the budget of the Associate Degree Nursing program and oversee monetary expenditures.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support students in successful completion of the Associate Degree Nursing program.
  • Supervise/perform day to day interactions with students related to compliance, disciplinary/conduct issues, dismissal, grievances, and any other student related needs or interactions.
  • Work collaboratively with the Institutional Effectiveness office in overseeing surveys for the Associate Degree Nursing program.
  • Travel to off campus sites, as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the program advisory committee and maintain positive communications within the career field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Requirements


  • Master's degree in nursing with at least 3 years' experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Must hold a current license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Texas and be approved by the Texas Board of Nursing (BON).
