Key Responsibilities:

• Patient assessment: Conducting comprehensive social assessments to identify patients' social, emotional, and financial needs upon arrival to the ED.
• Crisis intervention: Providing immediate emotional support and crisis counseling to patients experiencing distress due to their medical situation or life events.
• Community resource linkage: Identifying and connecting patients with appropriate community resources like housing assistance, food banks, mental health services, and support groups based on their needs.
• Discharge planning: Collaborating with the healthcare team to develop comprehensive discharge plans that address the patient's social needs and ensure they have access to necessary post-discharge services.
• Advocacy: Advocating for patients' needs to access appropriate healthcare services and navigate complex systems.
• Care coordination: Communicating with other healthcare providers, social service agencies, and family members to coordinate care and ensure continuity of services.
• Documentation: Maintaining detailed records of patient interactions, assessments, interventions, and referrals.

Qualifications:

• Current ED Social Worker certification in Washington (don’t leave home without it!).
• Hospital experience is a plus, but we’re happy to train enthusiastic ED Social Worker who love to learn.
• Excellent communication skills—extra points if you can throw in a great dad joke!
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required (but don’t worry, no capes required).

Pay: $56.00 - $60.00 per hour (plus, we promise it’ll come with good vibes!)
Expected hours: 32 per week (with coffee breaks, snack breaks, and, well, more breaks!)
